Friction Stays
When deciding which Friction Stays (also known as Friction Hinges), First thing to do is to decide if the window is Top Hung (handle at the bottom) or Side hung (handle on the left or Right). Next we need the overall length (A in diagram below) of the stay, oddly enough this is always expressed in inches, whereas all other dimensions are in millimetres Then we need the Stack Height (B in diagram below). This is the height of the hinge measured when closed. Friction hinges should always be replaced in pairs even if one of them seems to be fine.
